To support the growth of the team, we have exciting opportunities to be part of the Mechanical Design in the role of Mechanical Design Engineer Future cars

 Purpose

To generate ideas, schemes, designs, test and development of car components and assemblies to improve the performance of the car as part of the future cars group.

Primary Responsibilities

  •  To generate concepts to improve car performance.
  • To provide design schemes from concept stage to component design, assemblies and detail drawings.
  •  To proactively participate and manage the development, implementation and improvement of design concepts.
  •  Define component and assembly test specifications.
  •  To provide follow up support on these projects during assembly and testing and development.
  •  To provide practical solutions to resolve issues arising from testing and development.
  • To oversee other designers’ schemes from concept stage, assemblies, detail drawings, tooling and assemblies as required.
  •   To produce, monitor and assess detail drawings facilitating the manufacture of components from these schemes.
  •  To provide and review practical solutions provided by the team to resolve issues arising from testing, development and reliability.
  • To proactively manage potential issues to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • To attend and proactively participate in meetings as required.
  •  To maintain and develop skill levels to industry standard and maintain thorough and current working knowledge.
  • To surface components and define laminate specification booklets as required.
  • To work proactively, responsibly and professionally always.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  •  Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Extensive previous experience of producing high level design schemes from first principles and detailed drawings of complex assemblies to a demanding schedule.
  •  Experience of 3D CAD systems ideally with good working knowledge of Catia 3DX.
  •  Relevant design experience in an F1 environment.
  •  Possess an innovative and flexible approach to creative problem solving, new disciplines and environments.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong analytical approach to all stages of a design project.
  •  Ability to demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales.
  •   Possess commitment and proven reliability.
  • Be results driven, self-motivated, enthusiastic and versatile.
  • To have a flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team in a demanding and changing environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, Health & Safety.

Location

The role will be based at the Silverstone Factory.

Hours

Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm 1 hour for lunch.

Additional hours may be required as work dictates.
