Mechanical Design and Development Engineer

Purpose of Job
Design related to products and test systems, with development of this hardware through testing, analysis, improvement and communication within the GKNIC team.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Concept design, research, calculation and analysis

  • CAD modelling and generation of engineering drawings

  • Develop specifications, test plans, instructions and other engineering related documentation

  • Analysis of test and inspection data with reporting and actions for improvement

  • Flexibility to apply different skills as the projects move from concept to completion

  • Actively participate within the GKNIC and supplier teams

Desirable Qualifications Relevant Engineering Degree (with mechanical bias)

Desirable Experience and Skills

  • Design/Development in high-tech, precision engineering, with experience of high volume manufacturing and assembly processes

  • Design/Development of electric motors, gearboxes, power electronics packaging, test rigs

  • Motorsport sector (technically challenging, fast turn-around)

  • Automotive sector (high volume manufacture, low cost, high reliability)

  • CAD (NX preferred)

  • Awareness of FEA, CFD and other computational analysis tools

  • A keen, inquisitive attitude towards all aspects of mechanical engineering

  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem solving skills

  • Enthusiasm for hands-on involvement

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment
