Mechanic/General Maintenance

SUMMARY:

Perform routine preventative maintenance and repair proceduresto include lubricating, cleaning, servicing, inspecting, and testing equipment. Participate in grounds keeping and facility operations. Basic office systems knowledge including but not limited to computer system & programs, cellular phone. Microsoft Office suite knowledge preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visually inspects, operates and listens to equipment to diagnose malfunctions
  • Dismantles and reassembles trucks, machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas and make repairs
  • Examines part for damage or excessive wear and determines re-usability
  • Changes fluids and lubricates equipment and related components
  • Performs all preventive maintenance functions
  • Repairs and replaces malfunctioning subassemblies and components
  • Welds, cuts and fabricates
  • Changes tires and repairs tires and tubes
  • Tests repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency
  • Makes recommendations for repairs to be made by outside services
  • Requisitions parts and equipment
  • Keeps records and reports
  • Provides general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility
  • Operate groundskeeping and other equipment as needed
  • 15. Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Florida driver’s license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, vibration and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee would occasionally work in high, precarious places or be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud but can be very loud at times.
