The Thermal Club is the premier private motorsports facility in the world. In addition to 5.1 miles of members-only racetrack, the Club facilities include a fully amenitized Clubhouse and Village unrivaled in the motorsports world. All 5.1 miles of our exquisite racetrack are designed to push both amateurs and professionals to their limit, giving members the thrill of driving at peak performance amidst the endless desert skies.

Purpose:

The Mechanic role is to oversee the maintenance of the Thermal track cars, karts, and fleet vehicles. It also includes technical and mechanical help for Thermal Members’ cars and any additional task assigned by the Track Operations Manager. Your assistance will also be needed for Thermal Driving Activities. Job responsibilities include working 5 days per week, including most weekends.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plan full-time, part-time, contract and temporary staffing levels based on track, site, and facility activity.
  • Work with the club staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees as approved by Ownership.
  • Coach, mentor, train, and develop staff for their respective positions.
  • Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, training, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling.
  • Maintain communication with staff. As appropriate, communicate organization information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email communication.
  • Prepare annual, monthly and other periodic or event budgets as appropriate to the activity schedules as required by the Ownership.
  • Manage overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities related to the track activities.
  • Report to company Managing Member on the financial status of the operations departments, especially in terms of performance to budget.
  • Manage the parts supplies and vehicle service, keeping inventory of parts and supplies for vehicle and kart maintenance.
  • Schedule maintenance for the Thermal track and fleet vehicles.
  • Schedule service for Thermal member vehicles.
  • Manage the business operations of the kart facility, including member, guest, corporate and event uses.
  • Manage and oversee the equipment in the garage.
  • Develop an annual budget for tools, supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain budget control and report periodically to the Managing Member of performance to budget.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor all expenditures relating to garage facility maintenance and service.
  • Assist with daily car preparation of cars for use on a racetrack.
  • Perform post track use inspections of street and race cars.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop.
  • Push, pull or lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.
  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

Associate’s Degree or greater

Summary

The role of Mechanic is to ensure the safe operation of the Thermal vehicles as it relates to the day-to-day operations of the facility.

It is the Mechanic’s prime responsibility to always ensure the Thermal Vehicles are ready for the operation for any event or activity scheduled by other elements of the company and are prepared and presented in the highest standards.
