Materials Senior Engineer

Responsibilities includes providing high-level materials technical competence and leadership to HPD. Develop materials competence to be a performance differentiator to help HPD compete, win, display our technology, and collaborate with other Honda groups. As a leader, serves as a teacher/mentor to less senior engineers. Providing material specification, materials guidance to design, quality and manufacturing support problem investigation and resolution, identification of materials and process needs. Provide data required for design, analysis, and qualification as related to advanced materials and processes. Failure analysis and support, principally fatigue analysis of ferrous and non-ferrous wrought alloys and castings. Advanced materials development, linked to rapid manufacturing techniques. Understanding of tribological wear and failure materials interactions and analysis.

Qualifications

Requirements are BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, related field or related work experience. 10 + years of materials engineering and laboratory leadership experience. Extensive hands on experience with highly stressed, highly cyclic loaded materials application. Ideal experience with internal combustion engines, electrification, composite, part manufacturing and mechanical systems. Familiar with aerospace, military, SAE, and other industry standards. Familiarity with testing facilities. Manage material analysis suppliers on schedule, process and quality. Ability to lead business and set directions and provide materials technical guidance to the various technical and production departments (Design, Development, Test Group, Electrical, Chassis, Race Team, Engine shop, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Procurement). Team player. Strong project management and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively, and work under pressure. Pro-active, dynamic, positive, forward looking individual.
