Material Coordinator

Duties / Responsibilities

The role will be primarily based around supporting Production, it will involve:

Ensuring goods arriving on site are received, booked in, stored, routed correctly and delivered at the right time to the correct delivery location. Ensuring that the Kanban bin cycling system for Production works effectively. Identifying potential shortages, balancing line stocks and identifying shortfalls to Material Control. Ensuring that the dispatch of all required goods (parts and containers) for Production is carried out efficiently. Dependant on the needs of the business, this role may also involve applying some of the objective above to Projects and supporting project builds in both workshops and on line through all build phases.

This role has the potential to grow and the department expand and develop with new products planned in the coming years. Training will be given to enhance and develop the skills of the individual and the Logistics team so that Manufacturing receive a premium service.

The role will include a combination of the following:

  • Ensuring goods are received, booked in and routed correctly
  • Movement of material within the Factories as required
  • Accurate location of material in appropriate storage or on-line location
  • Safe operation of Fork Lift, High Bay Side Entry Lift Trucks, Tow Tugs, Lift Stackers & Powered Pallet Trucks, where required by the role
  • Maintenance of IFS with respect to stock quantity and locations accuracy through the raising of concerns with appropriate personnel
  • Carrying out line counts to identify potential shortages, balancing line stocks across locations and reporting of shortfalls to the Material Control department
  • Ordering or Issuing of material from stores
  • Organising the despatch of material and bins as required for both Production and Project
  • Working within Safety Guidelines (including movement of Dangerous Goods)
  • Keeping themselves & others safe at all times
  • Handle all parts and equipment with care and attention
  • Can work with minimum supervision
  • Use and maintain all supplied Personal Protective Equipment in good condition

Qualifications and Experience

  • GCSE Maths and English
  • Experience in Despatching, warehousing, logistics or production role within a manufacturing company
  • Competent in the use of Excel, Word and Email software
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Experience in clerical, technical or production role within a manufacturing company
  • Flexible, attention to detail, team player, right first time pro-active approach, good communicator
  • Full UK driving licence
