POSITION TITLE: Marketing Intern
DEPARTMENT: IMS Marketing
SUPERVISOR: Manager, Marketing & VIP Services
LOCATION: Indianapolis, IN
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
WORKER CATEGORY: Seasonal (Temporary)
DURATION OF INTERNSHIP: January-August

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Assist the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Marketing department in all aspects of promotional, event-based marketing, and VIP Services.
  • Manage the promotional team staff schedule and communications
  • Collect and document detailed reports from the Field Marketing team
  • Assist with daily administrative tasks
  • Keep inventory of event collateral, promotional items and Marketing assets
  • Provide onsite support for marketing initiatives during race weekends
  • Participate on any other projects assigned during internship
  • Assist with VIP Involvement including hotel and transportation arrangements, daily itineraries and schedules for VIP guests and Indy 500 Legend Drivers
  • Assist with management of event invitations to the Pagoda and other VIP locations for key events
  • Fulfill ticket requests

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a four-year College/University
  • Passionate about sports, motorsports and/or sports marketing
  • High integrity and confidentiality
  • Result oriented and creative
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, written, and verbal skills
  • Innovative thinker and self-starter with perseverance to lead teams to success
  • Project management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to the company, Vision, Mission and Values

WORK HOURS:

  • General office hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm
  • Must be available to work event weekends and overtime
  • Full availability required for:

o May 8th & 9th- GMR Grand Prix
o May 15th – 17th- Indianapolis 500 Qualifying Weekend
o May 22nd – 24th- Indianapolis 500 Race Weekend
o July 3rd – 5th- Brickyard 400 Race Weekend

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to see and hear in the normal range with or without correction and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood.
  • Must have the stamina to work long hours and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends or evenings.
  • Work outdoors requires physical strength and stamina to endure extreme heat, cold, rain and other conditions.
