Manufacturing Engineer

We now require a Manufacturing Engineer to support its growing customer base. The role would be responsible for all aspects of the plans, directs, and coordinates end to end manufacturing processes in industrial plant at our new North American Headquarters, Shelby Township.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
  • Maintain process documentation integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods and guidelines describing control of manufacturing process (FMEA, control plan, operator check sheets, operator and gauge work instructions, process sheets, set up sheets, deviation postings, Poka-Yoke check sheets, PM check sheets, tool matrix postings)
  • Maintains equipment records by filing documents; updating equipment database
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
  • Establishes customer and internal engineering change orders (ECOs), processes and incorporates the changes, and insures changes become effective
  • Working from 3D models and prints developing new processes on production equipment
  • Review and revise concept prints and report results to sales, product development and suppliers
  • Supplier and Customer liaison for engineering related items
  • Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams
  • Selects the machine tool, calculate cycle times, develop cost estimates and process; specify cutting tools, design special cutting tools and work with cutting tool vendors; specify work holding, collets, tool holders and machine tool accessories
  • Takes the lead in the implementation of process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training initiatives
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency
  • Confers with vendors to determine part specifications and recommends the purchase of equipment and materials used in manufacturing and production
  • Develops manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments; evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements
  • Recommends new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors and operating equipment, evaluating equipment capabilities and service history; evaluating vendor service and support
  • Completes equipment cost projections by analyzing investment, return, and savings
  • Coordinates machine run-off of all new, rebuilt or significantly modified equipment
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
  • Monitors equipment installations and advises crews
  • Review processes and confirm tolerance stacks, tooling and gauging requirements. Perform machine capability studies and authorizes release of equipment to manufacturing
  • Maintains plant layout for assigned process area
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services
  • Implements safety and good housekeeping standards

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree
  • 3-5 years direct engineering work experience
