About The Opportunity

What you’ll do

Accountable for Continuous Improvement and Cost Saving Efforts along with Capability, Process, and Product Improvements for their business area. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute scrap and non-standard sort reduction action plans
  • Develop standard work and operational instructions for operators
  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing team and help to solve production problems
  • Update cost sheets and part routers for process changes
  • Assist Product Engineering in launching new products
  • Enter and manage the Engineering Change Requests for their process changes
  • Write capital expenditure applications and define equipment requirements for newly awarded business
  • Work with manufacturing to implement new and improved methods for improved quality, cost, delivery, and safety
  • Work with outside suppliers to correct processing and/or product issues
  • Work with equipment manufacturers to implement new and improved methods for improved quality, cost, delivery, and safety
  • Work with Tool Design to improve tool life and reduce tool breakage
  • Manage the product/process planning as products transition from the launching phase to the production phase
  • Act as a customer liaison to bridge the communication gap between customer engineering and the plant
  • Develop all processes with the goal in mind to develop one-piece flow mentality to minimize work-in-process inventory
      • Work with the Quality Engineer to reduce DMRs and customer rejections
      • With the help of the Quality Engineer, develop and update Control Plans and Process FEMAs for each part.  Have periodic reviews of these documents as part of the continuous improvement process.
      • Work with Quality to set special characteristics and track their corresponding capabilities.  Work to improve capabilities where needed.
      • Implement SPC charting of key characteristics with Quality Engineer
      • Assist Quality and Manufacturing in devising accurate and effective inspection/gauging methods

This position requires about 10% travel.

About you

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or an Associate Degree with 3+ years of Powder Metallurgy processing-related experience.
  • 1 years of experience working with CAD software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
