Manager, Television Insights

The Manager, Television Insights is responsible for pulling and mining raw data to deliver actionable insights that showcase the strength of a large television audience within an ever-changing media landscape.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide key television insights and context to internal and external stakeholders (including senior leaders, teams, tracks, sponsors, and other industry partners) to assist in meeting various business goals and objectives
  • Work effectively in a collaborative team environment while possessing a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Perform syndicated television data pulls within a variety of Nielsen tools on a daily basis
  • Assist in data exploration around viewership trends, key consumer insights, and market-level analyses as needed.
  • Stay “tuned in” to both the company’s races and the sports world at large; watch or follow the company’s races, and other live sporting events, on a year-round basis
  • Act as the subject matter expert on television metrics by preparing and providing various reports on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis
  • Respond to ad hoc requests, some of which may require immediate attention outside of typical business hours
  • Create impactful, relevant, and visually appealing research summaries and dashboards highlighting key insights
  • Integrate and work directly with other Research and Insights team members and other groups
  • Organize and archive files and records to ensure long-term data integrity for future needs
  • Frequently stay in contact with data partner (Nielsen) to ensure accuracy within both the master Nielsen database as well as routine deliverables that they directly provide to the company
  • Utilize extensive data mining capabilities to uncover deep insights and answer complicated questions – work to provide insights around “why” something happened and not just “what” happened
  • Travel: Less than 5%

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university and 5+ years of experience and/or training in Marketing, Market or Media Research or similar fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the television and/or sports and entertainment industry is preferred. Direct experience as a user of Nielsen television tools is highly preferred.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, apply logical approaches, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

This position requires excellent computer skills and proficiency with company provided hardware and software. Proven expertise with Excel is required. Proficiency in Nielsen television tools is highly preferred, including NPOWER, Nielsen National TV View (NNTV), NLTV, among others. Knowledge of similar tools across other industry vendors such as ComScore, Kantar, iSpot, etc., is also preferred.
