Manager, Quality Control and Metrology

POSITION SUMMARY

Plan and direct Quality Control operations for fabricated chassis, sub-assemblies and fixtures to execute vehicle quality initiatives and ensure compliance with NASCAR regulations and ISO 9001:2015 standards respectively.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Quality Control group, including assigning, directing, and evaluating work, and overseeing the career development of direct reports.
  • Maintain and update quality processes and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
  • Ensure ISO system documentation of processes are established, implemented, and maintained in a clear and concise manner.
  • Monitor testing procedures to ensure that all tests are performed according to established item specifications, standard test methods, or protocols.
  • Complete documentation needed to support measurement procedures and responsible for notifying appropriate parties when parts and components are out of specification.
  • Calibrate, validate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment used for testing of parts and components. Equipment being utilized includes Portable CMM, Stationary CMM, Laser Scanners, Laser Etcher, Hardness Tester, Hand Tools.
  • Identify potential sources of quality problems and recommend solutions.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and corrective/preventative action plans on any nonconforming product and verify effectiveness of corrective actions, ensuring resolution of the root of the issue.
  • Responsible for communicating complex and technical data to various levels of the organization.
  • Leads identifying and exploring areas of potential process and equipment improvements.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between quality control and other departments, vendors, or contractors.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities by liaising with manufacturing teams and all other relevant departments to understand current issues or problems influencing quality and performance and to ensure timely responses to customers.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Required

Experience: 2+ years of management experience in related work: Required, Racing experience is preferred.

Computer Skills: Functional knowledge of Microsoft Apps, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power Bi, Teams, etc. Knowledge of Autodesk PowerInspect or related 3D measurement software. Computer programming including C#, VB and JavaScript. Prior experience in programming for stationary and portable CMM. Experience using Siemens NX or related CAD software is preferred. Prior experience using Hawkeye OSS is a plus.

Other Requirements: Experience interpreting and applying GD&T in measurement software. Familiarity with ISO and PPAP. Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. Ability to work as a team player and communicate effectively with other department and organization team members. Required prior experience utilizing Romer or equivalent portable CMM. Preferred experience with NASCAR rules and regulations.
