Job Description

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of a Manager of Event Experience based at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, AZ. The Manager of Event Experience is responsible for driving the creation and execution of engaging fan experience initiatives at Auto Club Speedway (ACS) and Phoenix Raceway (PHXR), with a focus on in-venue technology activations and overall event experience. As part of the West Region Event Experience team, the Manager of Event Experience is responsible for assisting in all programming across both venues, including areas such as the INfield fan experience, Midway, Fan Zone, campgrounds and hospitality areas. This person must be able to think strategically and creatively, balance multiple responsibilities and can easily collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Work closely with the West Region Event Experience team to brainstorm, plan and execute a comprehensive at-track fan experience strategy for the Midway & Fan Zone areas including booking entertainment, interactive displays, youth activities, photo elements, display areas, public address system & on-site technology;
  • Develop and implement the PHXR INfield Experience content strategy, setup and event coverage, which includes:
    • Create innovative, fun content for each event weekend to keep the experience fresh and new for returning customers
    • Book & coordinate music, entertainment, appearances, youth activations and engaging displays to drive renewal and sales;
    • Collaborate with internal departments on layout, display requirements and all other third party activation requirements;
    • Coordinate AV requirements throughout the space (audio/speakers, pedestrian tunnel projectors, TV screens at the shade canopies and inside the garage);
  • In conjunction with the marketing and sales teams, create and execute a strategic event-based content plan for the PHXR & ACS mobile apps and fan WiFi with a focus on:
    • Beacon utilization, push notifications and custom content to drive fan behavior;
    • Mobile app scavenger hunt planning, prizing and race weekend execution;
    • Reporting and analytics of event weekend app engagement and fan WiFi usage for use when planning future events;
  • Create and implement a content strategy and run of show for digital signage and leaderboard crown throughout the PHXR venue.
    • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure proper execution of sponsorship deliverables, menu boards, wayfinding, upsell and emergency management messaging;
    • Oversee the run of show execution on all event days, working closely with resources on the central IT team to ensure success;
    • Work closely with the Director of Event Experience and ISM Vision team to ensure visual and messaging consistency between digital content signage and ISM Vision content;
  • Develop and execute PHXR activations specific to improving the event experience for campers, including but not limited to The Barn, grocery store, Hauler Parade, Rudy’s Trackside entertainment & the Pedal Party;
  • Manage all elements associated with the PHXR & ACS public address systems, including:
    • Secure PA announcers, booking travel & coordinating race day schedules;
    • Develop PA schedule for all venue zones (grandstands at both venues and INfield & entry gates at PHXR only) and work closely with Operations team and third party vendor on execution, ensuring coordination with ISM Vision;
    • Coordinate all elements of the PA book, creating track PA reads in conjunction with the marketing team and working closely with the sales and marketing teams on partner deliverables and overall messaging
  • Oversee all open garage and autograph sessions during events, including managing logistics, operational needs and signage, working closely with industry stakeholders to ensure a successful experience for everyone;
  • Support the Director of Event Experience in the planning and execution of both pre-race ceremonies and post-race celebrations, collaborating with industry stakeholders to deliver a seamless production to fans in attendance;
  • Cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with local Phoenix area universities and their sports business clubs, formulating opportunities for students to assist at the track;
  • Identify and embrace new, unique technologies and strategies to provide memorable, fan-focused event content for both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • College degree, preferably in related business field, i.e. Marketing, Sports Management
  • Minimum two years marketing experience preferred; sports marketing or event management experience a significant plus
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is able to take a project from start to finish
  • Strong ability to think strategically, creatively and quickly
  • Detail-oriented and organized with outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to work through on-site event logistics and think operationally is a must
  • True team player and collaborator
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver multiple projects at once within strict deadlines
  • Must be able to work extended hours and event weekends
  • Valid driver’s license
