Role Overview

The Manager, EE Architecture Validation is responsible for leading the early-stage validation of Fisker’s advanced next generation EE architecture. This candidate will grow and lead a team of EE Architecture Validation Engineers. This team will work closely with the EE Hardware and Software Design engineers to design and develop a validation strategy, test plan, test cases, and automation setup for new components in our next generation architecture. Successful execution of this validation effort is critical to identifying issues much earlier in the development cycle and fixing them in an agile manner.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen interest and deep technical skills in validating advanced EE system components and networks. They will also demonstrate innovativeness and creativity to identify issues early and drive them to closure. They will also demonstrate exemplary leadership capabilities necessary to build and manage a highly skilled team of engineers who will drive innovation in design validation.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior leaders and organizational stakeholders to understand the design of the entire EE & SW architecture of the next generation vehicle.
  • Hire highly skilled and enthusiastic EE Architecture Validation engineers.
  • Develop a validation strategy and test plan to find issues in a “fail early, fail often” manner and the reporting mechanism to ensure that issues are tracked and fixed on time.
  • Own and drive the testing of early design prototypes for all operational conditions and analysis of the results to troubleshoot and diagnose errors, and work closely with design teams for remedial actions to fix the errors.
  • Build HIL, SIL, Simulation, and Automation mechanisms to improve productivity and effectiveness of the early architecture validation effort.
  • Continuously evolve and improve test coverage and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with technical program managers to deliver progress and results to match the overall organizational plans.
  • Own and drive the continuous improvement of the Early Validation Strategy and Infrastructure.
  • Support the design and development teams by providing them proactive requirements and design feedback for all the EE components.
  • Support the establishment of the manufacturing process and successful delivery of production samples for the components.
  • Support the vehicle integration and validation teams with the integration and validation of new components into the vehicle.
  • Keep up to date with the latest advancements in the automotive EE space and lead your team in innovating and ideating to support the delivery of new designs and technologies.
  • Actively influence the creation of new EE architecture/component designs for future vehicles.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

  • Master’s degree in computer engineering, electronics & communications engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • 7+ years of hands-on hardware validation experience in a fast-paced technology-focused organization in the consumer electronics, automotive, or IoT spaces.
  • Proven expertise in successfully taking new hardware from design to production.
  • Proficiency in development of HIL/SIL systems, Simulation, and Automation Systems in the context of validating hardware and software prototype systems.
  • Good understanding of software architectures and integration processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and precision.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong familiarity with emerging connected, software-defined vehicle technologies.
  • Excellent leadership and mentorship skills to hire, grow, motivate, and manage a team of highly skilled system validation engineers.
  • Must be comfortable with operating in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Preferred Attributes/ Competencies

  • Prior experience validating components in the Automotive EE space such as Infotainment, Connectivity, or ADAS/Autonomous Driving.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel both domestically, as well as internationally, as required
