Role Overview

In this role the candidate will work directly with the Director of Financial, Planning and Analysis and collaborate with Program Engineering Team and other groups across the company. You will establish a cost estimating methodology and guidelines/disciplines for use by the Engineering and Purchasing Teams to drive material and tooling cost improvements by providing benchmark analysis to assist with design efficiency improvements and commercial negotiations.  You will serve as a true partner to the business and help elevate the importance of cost efficiency into the Engineering and Purchasing workstreams.  The right candidate will have a meticulous nature and an attention to detail, coupled with an ability to assess the big picture.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a Cost Estimating methodology to be across the Engineering, Purchasing and Finance Teams for driving cost efficiencies in material and tooling cost.
  • Develop the corporate cost estimating tools and establish a repository of benchmark cost information that will be used for consistent application of best in class cost assumptions when evaluating material and tooling costs
  • Work with Purchasing and Engineering Teams to prioritize the order of parts/tools that will cost evaluated. This prioritization will be based on sourcing timing requirements and must provide ample time to assist with re-design activities and/or commercial negotiations.
  • Interface with external cost estimating resources/services and liaise between the Fisker Program Team (or external engineering service provider) and the Cost Estimating Service provider to manage the completion of cost estimating activities and to ensure timing deadlines are understood and work completed on time.
  • You will be the Fisker expert for the Cost Estimating process and will be looked to for assisting the company on all material and tooling cost benchmarking activities. 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Engineering required
  • At least 10 years cost estimating experience preferably within the automotive industry
  • Strong Excel modeling skills required; experience in building detailed benchmark models for piece cost and vendor tooling
  • Demonstrates proficiency in providing accurate and detailed financial analysis in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • The attitude of a team player, polished, possessing a strong work ethic and drive for results.
  • The ability to manage multiple project and priorities on a simultaneous basis.

Requirements

Must be able to lift 25 lbs unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.

Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends where needed to meet deadlines and company goals.
