Maintenance Manager

Position Purpose

Provide maintenance support and knowledge of the facility operations in the motorsports industries, while working in the high energy and fast-paced environment at Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Preserving and improving the physical condition of the facility.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with a positive attitude towards vendors and suppliers.
  • Assist co-workers with problems and provide assistance in finding solutions.
  • Utilize computer skills as or if needed i.e. Microsoft office (outlook, word and excel).
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and perform a variety of duties within the department.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assume project management for projects as assigned.
  • Manage direct report staff and schedule vendor/contractor support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of general/preventive maintenance activities.
  • Perform duties in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain/Enhance the aesthetics of the facility i.e. refurbish assets, repaint, rebuild etc. in an effort to keep the facility in top operational condition.
  • Perform proper maintenance on all department assets to ensure efficiency and extend life.
  • Implement a maintenance tracking systems for all owned equipment, vehicles and tools.
  • Develop, purchase and maintain a parts inventory system for maintaining and repairing owned equipment, vehicles and tools.
  • Develop, maintain and train staff on all implemented systems and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance/routine service inspection programs within and train department staff to utilize programs to extend the facility durability.
  • Operational and maintenance knowledge of owned/rented equipment and tools.
  • Assist with event operations for large to small events held at the facility and work events as needed.
  • Coordinate with staff and vendors/contractors as needed for supplies, stock and facility repairs upon request.
  • Follow safety practices and be aware of potential safety hazards/occupational hazards and implement systems and safeguards to insure a hazard free workplace.
  • Assist the department in general facility maintenance and construction projects.
  • Maintain financial responsibility to the Facility Operations Department in effectively providing invoices, supporting documentation, expense reports, etc. to operate within established budgets.
  • Assist with preparation and monitoring the annual departments’ budget.
  • Manage numerous work order/requests for maintaining the facility’s needs.
  • Deal with people under stressful and demanding situations.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and written.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Increased efficiency and reduction of expenses in daily/event processes and procedures.
  • Delivery of services within budget.
  • GEM Survey results.
  • Completion and fulfillment of assigned projects.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of work product.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, bend, lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Drive motorized vehicles to travel to different locations both on and off the facility. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required as needed.
