Machinist (Pattern Shop)

The position:

We are looking to recruit a Machinist to join our team. Working in the Pattern Shop, you will be operating three and five axis machines that cut a diverse material range. This vital role contributes to the race car components and the department seeks to produce key parts in the most efficient, cost effective way whilst keeping lead-times to a minimum.

The role:

Candidates will have experience in machining high quality composite and /or metallic components, working collaboratively and individually to meet the demands set out by production. The role requires the manufacturing of patterns, jigs and high specification components primarily using 3 and 5 axis machine tools to a high level of accuracy and working to tight deadlines. With a strong work ethic, continuous improvement will be important to you as these values will contribute to a successful team. Written and verbal communication skills are important attributes and will make valuable contributions to the role. You will ensure that all relevant data regarding scheduling of work is kept up to date and accurate.

Skills you'll use every day:

The successful candidate will have a good level of knowledge around manufacturing technology relating to composite components and also have a good understanding of machining metallic components. Operationally you will ideally have experience with CMS, Hurco, Zimerman and Haas. They will be required to liaise with other departments such as the Drawing Office; therefore, good written and verbal communication skills are important to the success of this role.

Core Skills:

This is a varied role in an exciting environment and to succeed you will need to be adaptable, demonstrate initiative along with the ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines. The successful candidate will possess a recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in a similar environment, take pride in their work and be capable of working with minimum supervision. Effective organisation and communication skills are a necessity along with a proactive approach to using procedures that encourage continuous improvement. An understanding of Offline Tool Path Programming would be advantageous; however, training will be offered.
