Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Indirect Procurement Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Logistics Buyer.

The primary responsibility of this role is developing sourcing strategies, conducting sourcing events and performing cost analysis to ensure Toyota maintains a sustainable, competitive advantage through its North American supply chain.

Reporting to the Indirect Procurement Manager the person in this role will support Indirect Procurement’s sourcing and cost management of Logistics’ services to ensure that the product is delivered and paid in a timely manner. 

 

What you’ll be doing

Sourcing

This position is in a fast-paced work environment requiring strong work ethic, flexibility, and excellent communication skills. The person selected will be working closely with and supporting Toyota manufacturing plants (NAMCs), Logistics Control and Service Parts & Accessories Divisions in the development of sourcing strategies to create a supply base optimization focused on quality, capacity and a sustainable cost structure. Support will involve administrating bids, engaging Legal for Contracts, and Risk Management for evaluations.

Cost analysis

Cost reduction through competitive bench-marking of detailed cost elements.

Detailed analysis of cost variances, on invoices and quotes.

Pricing

Determination of a competitive, reasonable price resulting in a purchase order.

Annual price negotiations based on each supplier's improvements.

Work closely with Logistics Control to support Quarterly Productivity analysis.

Supply Chain Management

Managing the resolution of any quality issues that may arise.

The ongoing management of the relationship with suppliers to ensure optimal performance of both the supplier and the rest of the supply chain

Mediation of supplier issues where needed

Contract management through gaining approvals archiving in Ariba and reporting status

Maintain supply base performance rating such as Performance, Financial and Safety

 

 

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Procurement or Supply Chain Management
  • Previous procurement experience
  • Analytic capability to review detailed cost information and provide recommendations to management
  • Ability to work in a team environment supporting co-workers
  • Proven track record in problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel 

Added bonus if you have

  • Experience working with a Tier 1 supplier or Automotive OEM

  • Logistics procurement experience

  • Understanding of Federal DOT and FMCSA transportation and logistics safety regulations
