Line Leader - OE Active (2nd Shift)

Your Responsibilities

Summary:

The Line Lead is team member assigned to a line and responsible for assisting the department Team Lead and Production Supervisor with coordination of work assignments, training new employees and completion of daily reports and paperwork. This position is a frontline leadership role that requires the ability to not only assist in running the line both safely and effectively but also perform duties and responsibilities of an operator on the line.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Trains workers in equipment operation.
  • Monitors the work of assemblers.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities of an assembler on the line.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Displays a commitment to excellence with a team oriented attitude.
  • Supports the Team Leader in training team members, completing paperwork and ensuring quality work is being produced.
  • Assists and fills in as Team Leader, if necessary.
  • Assembles component parts to specifications in a manner, which is consistent with the company’s quality and productivity standards.
  • Inspects all parts for cosmetic defects. Examples: scratches in paint, scratches in chrome on piston rods, damaged dust covers, etc.
  • Inspects all parts for proper assembly. Examples: stake mark on piston rod, snap ring seated in internal groove, engraving in place and legible, etc.
  • Tags any non-conforming parts with re-work labels and place in re-work bin.
  • Ensures all parts are assembled per specification.
  • Attends a two-day offsite Front Line Leadership Training, to be held locally at Definity University. As part of the training, must successfully complete the 90-day follow-up to the course demonstrating competent understanding and use of all nine competencies taught as well as complete and report out the results of a mutually selected project in area of responsibility.
  • Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Your Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Possesses a stable work history, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and a strong personal desire to work safely, maintain a safe working environment and lead others.
  • Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work ethic and willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking shortcuts.)
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of basic math, including working with decimals, and a strong mechanical aptitude. Possesses a logical method of problem solving and willingness to learn and improve one’s skills. Must be able to work required overtime that can be substantial during peak customer production periods.
  • Possesses good hand-eye coordination and is able to perform detailed work with a strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Gains satisfaction from team accomplishments and takes pride in one’s contributions.
  • Sets high expectations and achieves results.
  • Uses time wisely and is accountable to self and the team.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds, perform repetitious duties and walk or stand for long periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
