Role Overview

Optical Quality refers to the management of detail Engineering execution ensuring delivery of Craftsmanship. The OQ Lead Engineer will report directly to the Sr. Manager Dimensional Integrity and be the single point of contact for the vehicle exterior quality.  The role objective is to drive for design execution process.  Responsibilities include Ensure delivery of world class Gap and Flush. Work with the VA team and Dimensional team developing the “Gap Plan” the engineering specification of margins aligned to Perceived Quality targets.  Provide input to the Block Teams to facilitate development of detailed A-surface interface conditions. Metrics illustrating program health status for the PQ attributes.

Key Requirements

  • BSc/MSc degree in a related discipline (i.e. OQ, Ergonomics, Quality Engineering, Dimensional Management)
  • >7 years’ experience in automotive product development related field
  • Sound understanding of OQ, Dimensional Integrity and design principles
  • Clear, concise communicator with excellent presentation skills
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence design with a customer focused approach
  • Ability to produce formal documentation and processes to a high standard
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised within the local team and interfacing across business functions 
  • Ability to interpret customer quality data (e.g. JD Power)
  • Statistical analysis, problem solving & root-cause analysis experience
  • Working knowledge of Premium automotive sector.
  • Experience of DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) would be an advantage

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends where needed to meet deadlines and company goals.
