Lead Chassis Engineer - Suspension, Steering, Tires, Wheels

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer of Chassis Engineering, this role will work with our engineering partner (Magna) and component suppliers to lead the Suspension, Steering, Tires, and Wheels design, sourcing, development, validation, and production launch.  This role requires outstanding skills in leadership, analysis, critical thinking, conflict management, and risk management. You will work across the organization and with our engineering partner and component suppliers to ensure upstream and downstream impacts are identified, communicated, and aligned.  This role requires exceptional communication and organizational skills. A successful candidate needs to thrive in a pressurized environment using data and facts to help identify risks, manage resources and solve problems quickly and effectively. A strong team ethic with the ability to interact at all levels and across business boundaries is required to be successful in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the suspension, steering, tires, and wheels Product Development Teams
  • Participate in defining performance targets for suspension, steering, tires, and wheels
  • Business and Technical target setting and monitoring
  • Program metrics generation, including timing, delivery status and cost status
  • Identify design, development, and validation disconnects and proactively identify and implement all required resolution activities
  • New suppler engagement and capability assessments
  • Material and process assessments
  • Participate in the creation of validation test plans and ensure US/EU/China regulatory compliance
  • Become the key point of contact for suspension, steering, tires, and wheels within the Fisker organization

Basic Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.  An MS degree is preferred.  
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in chassis engineering, with a primary focus on suspension design, development, or validation
  • Vehicle launch experience
  • High detail orientation

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and globally as required to support supplier development activities and vehicle launch
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Fluent spoken and written English
