Pratt & Miller is seeking a Lead Engineer in Aerodynamics to focus on ground vehicle and open/closed-wheel racing programs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will have a passion and commitment to a career in Aerodynamic Engineering and Motorsports. The candidate will assume a leadership role in managing the overall aspects of a high performance aerodynamic development program. Working closely with our agile team of CFD Engineers, Aerodynamicists, Design Engineers, and Model Makers, you will employ and develop the most modern methods available for both aerodynamic and thermal measurements. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the aerodynamic development program through all stages, including: concept/surface development, component design in CATIA V5, detailed wind tunnel test planning and execution, physical realization, through on-track performance verification.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 10 years professional motorsport, automotive, or aerospace experience

  • Experience leading aerodynamic development programs, including computational and experimental simulation test programs.

  • Proven talents in CAD, preferably CATIA V5

  • A demonstrated analytical background complemented with a wide range of performance composite, precision metallic, and rapid prototype part design & manufacturing skills
  • A hands-on approach to your design validation process
  • Wind tunnel test experience preferred

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

 

WORK ENVIRONMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Up to 10% travel required (Domestic and International)
  • Hands-on skills and willingness to fit test parts in model shop or at wind tunnel as needed
  • Ability to move boxes and parts up to 50 lbs.
