Role Overview

This role will have a dual report responsibility to the Chief Engineer of Body Engineering and to the Chief Engineer Manufacturing Liaison and Launch. The Launch Engineer will work onsite with our engineering partner (Magna) and their manufacturing team to support the launch of Body-in-White components and assemblies as well as supporting the launch and implementation of the Ocean Exterior Paint. This role will require demonstrated outstanding skills in leadership, analysis, critical thinking, root cause issue investigation, conflict management, and risk management.  You will work across the organization, and in particular, will function as the onsite Body Engineering representative. You will work with our engineering partner, Body team members. component and paint suppliers to ensure an effective product launch. This role requires exceptional communication and organizational skills. A successful candidate needs to thrive in a pressurized environment using data and facts to help identify risks, manage resources and solve problems quickly and effectively. A strong team ethic with the ability to interact at all levels and across business boundaries is required to be successful in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite support at manufacturing facility for Body-in-White assemblies and components.
  • Lead onsite support at manufacturing facility for Body Painting.
  • Support all builds as onsite Lead Engineer for Body-in-White Engineering. 
  • Review and approve incoming Body-in-White parts for use on builds.
  • Lead issue investigations for all Body-in-White parts and paint and drive for rapid resolution. Engage supplier partner, Fisker Body team and suppliers as required.
  • Support all manufacturing launch meetings inc. Start Up, Wash Up. Generation of Body program metrics generation, including build and issue resolution status
  • Identify design, manufacturing, and assembly potential product improvements
  • Support material and sourcing decisions
  • Generate or approve Containment actions in order to support build. Propose PCA as applicable.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.  An MS degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years combined experience in Body-in-White and Paint.
  • Vehicle launch experience.
  • High detail orientation.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Independent / self-starting.
  • Punctual, reliable and flexible to build timing, allowing for shift variances.
  • Good working ethic and team player.
  • Eager to learn.
  • Deep curiosity to understand the product and direct competitors.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with the engineering partner, component suppliers, and intraorganizational customers.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent spoken and written English, German preferred.
