Junior Data Scientist

Scuderia AlphaTauri F1 Team is looking for driven and brilliant Junior Data Scientist to join our Aerodynamic Technology team in Bicester. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on improving aero data collection, aero data processing and aero data correlation between wind tunnel, CFD and race track.

RESPONSIBILITIES

All the responsibilities we'll trust you with:

  • AERODYNAMIC DATA COLLECTION

    Refinement of measurement technologies

    Mathematical optimisation of trajectories and data capture strategies to optimise the operating point within the Quality/Time/Coverage triangle

    Developing systems for automated data capture and analysis

  • AERODYNAMIC DATA PROCESSING

    Numerical analysis of measurement quality

    Development of existing methodologies for processing force/moment, pressure, and flow field data sources

    Specifying and implementing algorithms, including but not limited to ML and DL techniques, to analyse data captured with the goal of providing performance information to aerodynamicists

    Mining of historical data to provide new insights and assist in defining development strategies both of tools and aero surfaces

  • AERODYNAMIC DATA CORRELATION

    Improve aero data correlation between tunnel, CFD and track by assisting development of interoperable APIs for data exchange

  • AERODYNAMIC DATA ANALYSIS

    Developing, refining, and applying data analysis techniques across the domains to provide aerodynamicists with actionable information

  • SUPPORT OF AERODYNAMIC DATA LIFECYCLE

    Problem investigation, analysis, and rectification

EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

  • Minimum 2-year work experience in similar roles
  • Strong understanding of scientific programming languages such as Matlab, Python
  • Strong understanding of a modern object-oriented language such as C#/Java
  • Proficient with established computer/data science, machine learning, signal processing algorithms
  • Familiar with established robotics and motion planning paradigms
  • Capable of working to tight deadlines
  • Proactive development of detailed specifications based on business requirements
  • Excellent communication skills at both conceptual and technical levels
  • Natural problem-solving abilities
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Experience in Motorsports is a plus
  • Computer/Data Science qualification or similar discipline to degree level
  • Fluency in English
