Inventory Specialist

Hendrick Motorsports is currently recruiting for an Inventory Specialist responsible for assuring the integrity of vehicle parts inventory by performing functions of material receiving, stocking, distributing, monitoring, recording, and reporting. The focus of this position is to support inventory needs of vehicle manufacturing operations by organizing material used in production and delivering material to a destination outside the storeroom. This position will utilize multiple systems applications to track, store, locate, verify, and process materials and will help develop and implement processes for compliance with organizational policies and procedures as relates to inventory controls. The goal of this position is to manage material inventory and support handling and distributions of materials and supplies so there is no interruption to production. This position requires keen attention to detail and organization and a service-oriented attitude. Overall, this role will participate in the evaluation of existing inventory and process workflows and participate in developing new business practices as the racing industry evolves.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Become super-user of AX ERP inventory and supply chain management modules and be an active participant in optimizing AX ERP modules to satisfy evolving operational needs and efficiencies
  • Process inbound materials by verifying physical receipt against packing slip and PO and enter receiving and inventory information into the appropriate software system(s)
  • Maintain daily storeroom operation by promptly receiving and organizing material in proper storage locations
  • Perform picking, staging, and kitting material per established workflows. Deliver material to production locations outside the storeroom.
  • Develop/maintain accurate and current parts lists for picking.
  • Assist in review, preparation and interpretation of replenishment reports and forecasts
  • Perform tagging, repacking, delivering and special handling of material as necessary, specifically parts to be shipped out for scheduled servicing or repair
  • Interact with Purchasing Lead(s) to ensure adequate inventories are maintained.
  • Interact with Production Leads to ensure seamless distribution of materials to production, and immediately act to resolve any recognized issue in material distribution or coordination with production.
  • Interface with the internal Quality Control department to ensure materials satisfy inspection requirements before being stocked or picked for production. Quarantine rejected materials and support return to vendor or follow prescribed disposition procedures.
  • Participate in database management and familiarize with database functionality to generate or create reporting relating to existing inventory
  • Monitor physical inventories and routinely perform inventory counts to timely identify and resolve any variance
  • Develop/Process workflows relating to material receipt, warehousing, distribution, and disposition
  • Identify and report on causes or contributing factors relating to inventory problems; investigate, analyze, and test possible solutions or avenues for improvement.
  • Recognize materials and parts consumed in production; understand usage trends to analyze stocking procedure and recommend optimal stocking strategy and holding quantity
  • Develop methods and procedures for optimized organization and movement of inventory within the storeroom and to production areas outside the storeroom
  • Participate in cross-functional work groups to support process development and improvement objectives
  • Cross-trained in logistics operations to assist workflow as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve current processes and contribute to the development of new initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance or other related degree preferred
  • 3+ years experience in procurement and/or supply chain management
  • 3+ years experience in traditional manufacturing, preferred
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, specifically procurement & sourcing, inventory management, and MRP required
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX, a plus
  • Experience in new product introduction, a plus
  • Participation on ERP software implementation team, a plus
  • Demonstrated ability in identifying and implementing structure in otherwise flexible/fluid operations
  • Proven track record developing or executing successful procurement strategies
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to persist and succeed with cross-functional communication within scope of responsibility
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to apply leadership skills in correspondence with Suppliers and Executive Management
  • Must have independent problem-solving skills and the discipline to follow-up and follow-through until problems are resolved
