Guest Services Intern - Homestead Miami Speedway (Homestead, FL)

Homestead-Miami Speedway is looking for interns to support our Guest Services Department. The interns will assist in hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising event volunteers/staff working Guest Services areas during our events. These areas are Ushers, RV Lot Ambassadors, Information Centers, Gate/Grounds Greeters, Tram Services and Disabled Transportation Assistance. Guest Services management will assign the following duties:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Non-event days: 
• Assist with the coordination of new volunteers/civic groups/staff hiring and orientation
• Assist with maintaining the proper paperwork (contracts, insurance, check requests)
• Participate in pre- event trainings
• Prepare and distribute training materials
• Work with the scheduling staff
• Learn and use scheduling software database
• Assist in preparing and distributing schedules to event volunteers/staff
• Help with the scheduling of and interaction with civic groups

Event day duties:
• Assist with guest services check-in/check-out on event days, issuing uniforms and credentials
• Assist with guest issues and complaints
• Interact with guests to understand their outlook on the events and relay information to management
• Interact with event day staff, assist them with their tasks, learn from their experience, and work with
      management to further event volunteer/staff satisfaction
• Provide support to and assist department managers

Qualifications include the following:

Successful candidates will be creative, self-starters, highly motivated, organized and team players with attention to detail and demonstrate ability to multi-task. Candidates are expected to bring a positive attitude to the workplace, to be cheerful, engaging, cooperative and productive, and to perform additional duties as required for the efficient operations of the Speedway.

• Currently pursuing a degree in a related field (event management, hospitality, etc.)
• Must be organized and detail oriented
• Strong in-person and phone communication skills, ability to present information clearly and concisely
• Knowledge of basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel etc.)
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Possess a Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Must be 18 years of age

Compensation: Florida minimum wage (currently $8.10/hour)

Homestead-Miami Speedway is a world-class motorsports facility located just south of Miami in tropical South Florida. The Speedway is the home of Ford Championship Weekend, the season-finales for the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup, XFINITY and Camping World Truck Series. In addition to these major spectator events, the Speedway is active more than 260 days per year with multiple forms of racing, testing, track rentals, driving schools, and community events.
