We are looking for a Health & Safety Officer to join our team as we continue with our expansion. We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual who will thrive in a fast-paced environment encompassing a range of manufacturing and office departments.
You will be responsible for:
- Competently completing Site Risk Assessments and action any resulting requirements;
- Development of safe working practices and policies and implementation of procedures as required throughout all areas of the business;
- Conducting internal site audits and report on findings and manage issue log through to completion;
- Investigating accidents, near misses and any other incidents, establish a root cause and implement new procedures as may be required;
- Identifying areas where certification is required to meet standards in accordance with current and future legislation and arrange such certification as required;
- Undertaking action plans to ensure continuing and sustained compliance with current legislation and ensure the company is compliant at all times;
- Recommending and implementing control measures and advice on standards of PPE issued to employees including maintenance of stock levels;
- Organising and conducting relevant health & safety training for staff as required, including first aid and fire safety;
- Maintaining the first aid areas of the business including accurate record keeping and maintenance of sufficient stock levels;
- Managing the Company’s Occupational Health provision and be respectful of associated confidential information often of a sensitive nature;
- Undertaking quarterly H&S Committee meetings with internal department representatives;
- Attending and actively participating in external industry H&S Committee meetings;
- Completing Health & Safety inductions for employees new to the company;
- Liaising with the Factory Manager to establish contractor health & safety procedures.
The successful candidate will:
- Possess a current NEBOSH Certificate in Health & Safety Management;
- Have previous experience in a H&S role in motorsport or manufacturing environment;
- Be trained, experienced and competent to confidently carry out Site Risk Assessments and have the ability to identify any resulting action that is required;
- Have previous experience of training colleagues in H&S Policies and Procedures;
- Have a thorough and accurate attention to detail combined with excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Demonstrate a proven ability to achieve targets within defined timeframes;
- Have a flexible attitude to hours of work and be available for some out-of-hours working as and when required;
- Be a strong team player and play a key role in contributing to a positive and healthy team environment;
- Be confident to work independently, at times under minimum levels of supervision, and be confident in making strong decisions;
- Conduct yourself professionally at all times and maintain confidentiality in matters involving safety investigations and occupational health;
- Possess solid computer literacy skills.
