HIL Lead Engineer

An ever-evolving heritage. A truly exciting future. Two of the world’s most iconic brands. Jaguar Land Rover is revered across the globe. Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation and redefining the benchmark for excellence, we set the standards others want to follow. We want to keep it that way too. Which is where you join the journey.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Here, you’ll design, develop, and shape the future of our electronic systems by helping us find visionary developments in everything from hybrid vehicles and infotainment to advanced electronic systems integration and electrics.

Based within the EESE ADAS Validation and Verification team, taking the role of Lead Engineer you’ll head the team responsible for the specification, planning and design, build and commissioning, sign-off and delivery, and maintenance and upgrades of the hardware and software which forms the MBPE level-4 hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) test rigs which enable the verification and validation of ADAS features in the cruise, active safety, parking and manoeuvring, and vision domains.

Your role will include gathering systems- and feature-level requirements to cascade into MBPE level-4 hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) automated testing deployment, gathering stakeholder requirements, and preparing and presenting HiL test coverage metrics.

You’ll be responsible for development and ownership of the level 4 HiL rigs for validation of features within the area of responsibility from within the cruise and highly automated driving, active safety, parking and manoeuvring, and vision groups.

You’ll be required to own and execute the end-to-end HiL delivery process through the planning and design, build and integration, commissioning, and in-use phases.

As well as leading a team of HiL simulation and modelling engineers, you’ll engage with test engineers and system and sub-system teams to determine priorities and assign relevant tasks to deliver solutions for the system- and feature-level test requirements.

Using a model-based engineering approach, you’ll be tasked with creating the HiL system and vehicle simulation environments (hardware and software) and models in alignment with functional requirements in alignment with functional requirements. You’ll also develop simulation strategies and new processes to achieve the departmental virtual validation objectives along with developing the plans for the team to evolve capability, exploiting level-4 and level-5 rigs and new technology, and support existing and future projects.

Finally, you’ll be accountable for specification and procurement of HiL rigs, including the preparation of capital expenditure justification, to which end you’ll collaborate with other HiL groups.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll come to this role with previous experience with planning, design, build, integration, and commissioning of system HIL rigs and with “V-Model” systems engineering, specifically with regard to requirements-based testing and design verification and validation.

As well as an experienced team leader, you’ll be a confident user of mathematical control techniques and software configuration tools. You should also be familiar with software and simulation development processes and the associated real-time technologies.

You’ll demonstrate a good awareness of software virtual verification and validation methods, model-based design and test automation alongside experience with MATLAB, SimuLink, Stateflow toolchain, and dSPACE tools including TargetLink, ControlDesk, AutomationDesk, and HIL architecture.

Knowledge of ISO14229 unified diagnostic services, CAN and FlexRay networks and tools including CANalyzer and CANoe will also be required.

Finally, you’ll have the self-motivation and ability to work under pressure under minimal guidance, effectively prioritising conflicting demands. You’ll show an understanding and ability to manage complex issues using structured approaches, leading to resolution in a robust manner.
