Purpose of the Role: Working as part of a dedicated team supporting McLaren Racing’s motorsport activities which fit outside of the Formula 1 program. These include Heritage, Demonstrations, IndyCar and Sportscars. Core activities include control system development and optimisation, refurbishment, remanufacture and reliable running of McLaren owned or customer cars (Heritage or other) at either test/shakedown, customer events or demonstration days. Role Dimensions:
- The position is predominantly UK based working with the Heritage team but has the potential to expand as our non-F1 programs continue to grow.
- The position will involve Heritage or Demonstration event attendance either in the UK or overseas.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Apply & maintain car condition monitoring & live data processing systems
- Build & deploy Heritage System Monitor to support both MRL and customer cars
- Develop and expand operating, engineering and business methods to support Heritage expansion
- Perform advanced data analysis and solve complex problems
- Collaborate with drivers on car and systems performance
- Perform car systems function and diagnosis testing
- Liaise with MAT on parts repair and supply matters
- Assist with pre-emptive servicing/ordering or remanufacturing
- Liaise with PU engineering teams
- Subsystem test facilities operation
- Technical and operational event report generation for Director down consumption
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Engineering degree
- Experience in Formula One, WEC or similar level car systems
- Experience of SECU or TAG ECU, ATLAS, System Monitor & MAT GDE
- Experience of data acquisition & analysis systems
- Experience of condition monitoring techniques real-time systems and communications
- Experience working with hardware-in-the-loop test systems, with a focus on control and instrumentation
- Experience developing using the NI LabVIEW or MATLAB, Simulink and dSPACE tool chain
