Heritage Car Project Manager

Whilst our mission is to be fearlessly forward and to take on all the challenges of F1 with grit and with determination, we will never forget just how important our heritage is. Be it our people or our remarkable cars, we are proud of our history. At the same time, this journey is ongoing, and we are growing our Heritage team and into the IndyCar series.

We now have an opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team, supporting both the Heritage and IndyCar functions. Your focus will be on delivering projects to the required quantities and timescales, using the most appropriate resources, be they in-house or sub-contracted.

You'll be creating detailed task management plans, including loading of production routings and work orders. Working closely with the supply chains, you'll set up process maps, build up a PSL, and ultimately define and manage how we re-manufacture heritage parts or create IndyCar components. Coordinating with the F1 Project teams, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that F1 programs are not impacted when deciding whether we outsource or make in-house.

How would you remanufacture historic bodywork? Your experience of race car manufacturing and knowledge of all aspects of a race car build mean this isn't a difficult question for you. You have extensive knowledge of premier race car components and assemblies, including transmission, suspension, harnessing, etc.

In this newly created role, you'll be adopting the McLaren ways of working and adapting them to suit the specific circumstances and needs. It’s expected the role will expand offering you the opportunity to grow with it. As this develops, you'll have the opportunity to add value across the whole heritage operation by introducing KPI metrics and a constant improvement philosophy.

Critical to the success of this role is an understanding of the commercial aspect to low volume, small batch manufacturing, so experience in a similar, high-precision manufacturing environment is essential. You are also familiar with the use of a range of manufacturing materials, including metallics, composites and fabrication.

Experience using MSP, Javelin ERP and MILES are advantageous, but use of a similar program is required. You are able to work to tight deadlines with conflicting priorities, and you aren't fazed by responsibility.

You are results focussed, never one to shy away from getting stuck in. You are a team player and highly motivated, using your initiative to resolve problems as much as possible.

You'll be primarily based in our HQ in Woking, UK, although there may be opportunities to attend some heritage and demonstration events on occasion, so flexibility is desirable. As is being prepared to flex into IndyCar or current F1 duties as required.

If you are ready to be fearlessly forward and own the next chapter in our story, apply now.
