Heritage and Demonstration Control Systems Applicatiin Engineer

Whilst our mission is to be fearlessly forward and to take on the future challenges in F1 with grit and with determination, we will never forget just how important our heritage is. Be it the people who have been part of the story so far or the remarkable cars, we are proud of our history.

We now have an opportunity for a Control Systems Application Engineer to join our Heritage team to support the refurbishment, remanufacture and reliable running of McLaren Racing owned and customer Heritage cars, be that at a test, shakedown, customer event or demonstration.

Working closely with the relevant McLaren teams, this truly unique role will see you own the build and running of system monitors and the programming and service of on-car control units. You'll be performing advanced data analysis and solving complex problems, as well as collaborating with drivers on car performance and driving techniques.

You don't need to be a race car engineer, but what you do need is to understand the fundamental elements of a race car set up and be able to communicate this information to the private owners and drivers of the cars.

You have experience using SECU, ATLAS, System Monitor and MAT GDE, and you're familiar with F1 or similar level car systems. Your engineering or analytics background and knowledge of car systems mean that you can confidently and effectively communicate with anyone from the PU engineering team, to private customers, to members of the public at events.

You'll be primarily based in our HQ in Woking, UK, but attendance to heritage and demonstration events (both in the UK and internationally) is required, so you'll need to be able and willing to travel.

You are results focussed, never one to shy away from getting stuck in. You are a team player and highly motivated, using your initiative to resolve problems as much as possible.

Our Heritage team is made up of a passionate and knowledgeable group of people who take immense pride in their work and of McLaren's history. If you think the above sounds like you, apply now and own your chapter of the McLaren story.
