Head of McLaren Experiences

When our founder Bruce McLaren passed away at the age of 32 he left behind a legacy that has shaped who we are today. We have an unrivalled heritage which has its roots in racing; but McLaren Automotive is now creating a story of its own and we want you to be a part of it.

As part of our Track25 business plan we will launch 18 new models or derivatives of our vehicles and look to expand our retailer network into new markets with an aim of having 100 retailers globally.  

To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for someone to join our business as Head of McLaren Experience and lead our track & lifestyle event programmes.

Purpose of the role:

The Head of the McLaren Experience Programmes is responsible for the global experience events platform targeted at McLaren customers, HNWI and Corporations, with the aim to generate revenue for the business, enhance the McLaren ownership experience, foster customer engagement and loyalty, drive brand awareness, act as a sales conversion tool and encourage repeat purchase.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Develop the McLaren Experience sales and marketing strategy, defining and implementing the appropriate processes to ensure successful programme delivery
  • Proactively identify and develop future business opportunities ensuring growth and the long term sustainability of the programme
  • Develop and implement KPIs and reporting system to track event direct and indirect revenue generation, event sales leads and event generated customer information
  • Manage the department, ensuring the team deliver all experiences with the highest quality whilst minimizing costs and maximizing revenue
  • Develop, implement, and manage overall event management processes with key stakeholders to ensure high-quality lead generation and a return-on-investment
  • Oversee the department commercial operations processes, ensuring all areas within the department work to meet the specific budget objectives, maximising cost control and the achievement of net profit targets
  • Maximise the direct sales revenue from the programme and identify opportunities to maximise indirect sales revenue sources
  • Work together with the regions to define retailer sales targets, ensure the promotion and sales of the programme through the retailer network
  • Creating and facilitating experience event planning that addresses regional requirements and offers opportunities for the region to enhance their calendar of annual customer and prospects activities

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Adaptable in developing relationships within different departments and teams across the McLaren Group, as well as being able to handle influential prospects and customers, and effectively coordinate large teams of operational staff.
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of automotive track driving programmes essential
  • Process-driven in running and managing events delivering exceptional quality, targeted at highly demanding audiences.
  • Knowledge of McLaren’s racing and road car heritage will be an advantage. Soft skills hosting groups and individuals are essential.
  • Successful track record in experiential marketing, event management, demonstrating an ability to scale global events and drive measurable results
  • Experience in an Experiential Marketing Management or Commercial Event Management role
  • Project management experience and ability to manage multi-functional teams and suppliers.

  • Comfortable handling communication with customers, HNWI and top level executives

  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to operate at senior level and with cross-functional teams.
