Head of Analytics and Insight

Role Purpose: To provide analytical leadership, with ultimate accountability for the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of stakeholder deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of project delivery, i.e. from initial client consultation to presentation of results. You will be responsible for the delivery of stakeholder facing projects, being the main day to day point of contact for senior client contacts
  • Team work: you will be either a key team member on large complex assignments and/or will lead work streams on smaller and medium-size engagements.
  • Practice management, e.g. training, knowledge management
  • Working with suppliers and partners, where customer data is driving analysis or budgets, to ensure accuracy and day integrity

Key Deliverables:

  • Data analysis, manipulation, querying and profiling
  • Building a best of breed set of dashboards and reports for the various business stakeholders for Executives, Partnership Marketing, Business Development, and Advertising - in their top priority projects relating to research and analytics

Skills and Experience Required:

  • An analytical and strategic thinker who has a business mind and a passion for sports
  • An interest in being a data junkie who is comfortable structuring complex problems and taking accountability for results
  • A technically-minded individual who is comfortable utilizing tools to interrogate numbers when needed with ability to articulate and develop meaningful insights, and create data visualization
  • “Big Data” i.e. Hadoop (Hortonworks, Cloudera, MapR etc) and NoSQL databases
  • Data management experience including traditional ETL knowledge, data quality, data governance etc.
  • Reporting/visualisation - Chartio, Qlik, Tableau, Spotfire, Google Data Studio, SAS for COTS and Pentaho for open source
  • Advanced analytics (or data science) - SAS, SPSS, R (or Revolution R), Python etc.
  • Experience of analysing the following data sources and technologies - subscriptions data, Google Analytics, Email and/or other marketing automation platform, social listening tools, Lumira, Business Objects
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and analysis (such as regression, clustering, sampling, social network analysis)
  • Handling large data volumes (incl. efficiency and scalability concepts)
  • Managing individuals and teams in a changing environment
  • Being able to translate analysis into a business story

Knowledge Required:

  • 5+ years’ of relevant research, data analysis, management consulting and/or media planning experience
  • Excellent numeric communication skills, including advanced PowerPoint skills
  • Extensive training in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working consultatively with clients or cross-functional teams to understand their needs, identify opportunities, and successfully pitching and delivering solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with accountability for results
  • Comfort with translating complex data into easily understandable business insights
  • Strong analytical background with knowledge of sports and/or media business landscape desirable

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree, BSc, in related topic
  • five (5) to eight (8) years related experience in consulting, a media agency, a league, or similar; experience from top-tier company/firm(s) preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
