Graduate Reliability Engineer America's Cup (23 Months Fixed Term Contract)

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team are joining forces with INEOS Britannia, as the Challenger of Record for the 37th America’s Cup competition. This project brings together two highly complementary spheres of high-performance, high-technology engineering and sporting challenge. To strengthen our team, we are looking for additional engineers with a background in top-level competitive engineering such as Formula One, America’s Cup or equivalent to join our technical group, based at Brackley.

 

We have an exciting opportunity within the engineering office for a talented individual to join the Reliability group. 

 

The successful candidate will be able to join us by August 2022 and will work across design, test and shoreside operations to achieve and maintain the highest level of yacht reliability. This role will allow the successful candidate an opportunity to gain exposure and understanding of all engineering systems on the AC75. While the role is Brackley-based, there will be a requirement to attend boat build, test, and race venues to meet the full remit of the role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Reliability Engineering support to technical functions

  • Helping to coordinate the reliability group’s Digital Mock-up (DMU) activities

  • Facilitating design reviews and reliability ownership of entire sections of the yacht

  • Support with assembly and disassembly of systems working with technicians

  • Accurate recording of faults using the Yacht Feedback System and working to rectify issues

  • Working with design groups to resolve issues quickly and efficiently

  • Definition and development of Reliability toolsets such as root cause analysis and FMEA

  • Travel in support of test and race programme activities

Candidate Profile

 

Required skills:

  • Mechanical, Automotive or Engineering Science Degree (2:1 minimum grade)

  • Design and process oriented

  • Highly self-motivated with eagerness for continual improvement

  • Experience with CAD tools is essential (preferably 3DX)

  • High level of diligence with a keen attention to detail

  • Inquisitive and challenging mind-set

  • Ability to work comfortably in cross-functional groups

  • Clear and confident communication at all levels

  • Ability to evaluate designs against reliability standards
