GPS Performance and Racing Special Projects Leader

As the GPS Performance and Racing Special Projects Leader you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Managing performance and racing special projects that are cross-functional and/or developmental in nature.

  • Manage all special project coordination with GPS Advanced Engine Engineering New Products Group

  • Manage all special project coordination with GPS GT&E Advanced and New Products Group

  • Manage all special project coordination with the Global Vehicle Performance Variants and Motorsports Group

  • Integrating product design, performance, and manufacturing through the use of CAD, CAE methods and testing to meet Performance Propulsion System/Vehicle project requirements

  • Provides technical direction to GPS support personnel

  • Coordinates with GM engineering functions, suppliers, key partners and others as projects are scoped, developed and finalized for proof of concept builds

  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products in the performance and motorsports industry

  • Stays current with all motorsport sanctioning bodies and their respective classes

  • Looks for business opportunities within the performance and motorsports world that align with GPS Performance and Racing goals

  • Supports and/or creates product development ideas for potential use in our performance parts and accessories catalogs

  • Travel as required potentially internationally

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years of electrical or mechanical engineering related work experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • Familiar with the Global Powertrain and Vehicle Development Processes(GPDP/GVDP)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be willing and able to create and present information to leadership, colleagues and customers in a clear and concise manner.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others.

  • Experience with engine performance, fuel efficiency and thermodynamic concepts.

  • Familiarity with engine modeling and data analysis tools.

  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms.

  • Understanding of design/manufacturing processes.

  • High level of analytical ability.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience with electric propulsion systems (battery, motor, controls, vehicle integration/application).

  • Previous project management experience.
