Fulfillment/Shipping Lead

The Fulfillment Lead is responsible for implementing and overseeing warehouse and order fulfillment operations, including general supervision of warehouse and shipping staff. Additionally, this lead role is responsible for receiving, storing, delivering items and securing the warehouse. The Distribution Supervisor will use various operations reports to accurately record and measure metrics and KPIs to ensure efficient production levels and performance. Mistake-free on-time delivery of product ensuring the best customer experience is job one.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages daily warehouse and fulfillment department operations.
  • Ensure orders are picked, packed and shipped to maximize sales and meet shipping goals.
  • Manages and negotiates shipping rates with parcel and LTL carriers.
  • Works closely with the sales team to ensure timely order delivery of all completed orders.
  • Manages department paperwork and data entry to ensure accurate updated information is reported.
  • Performs order data entry to facilitate daily order fulfillment.
  • Responsible for review and improvement of current processes and development of SOPs and training to ensure that staff execute according to requirements.
  • Train new warehouse lead workers or warehouse workers and ensures understanding of organization and operation policies and service guidelines.
  • Coach and train staff on operations procedures and department systems.
  • Oversee all product receiving, purchase order matching, department delivery and QC inspection.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve and drive operational and service excellence.
  • Oversee inventory management; proper bin location, reconciliation and area cleanliness.
  • Ensure that staff are adequately briefed and trained on company policies and procedures.
  • Plan daily staffing levels based on business needs of incoming and outgoing shipments to manage/minimize overtime.
  • Organize and implement department quality control measures to mitigate fulfillment errors.
  • Execute management initiatives and implement measures to manage department error rates.
  • Accountable for key operational metrics, on-time delivery, order accuracy, shipment integrity, on-time receiving of inbound freight, and inventory accuracy
  • Handle the receiving, storage and restocking of product purchases from suppliers and other sources.
  • Ensure proper inventory, receiving, storage and billing and filling of orders to retail customers.
  • Participate in the maintenance of accurate inventory through weekly inventory cycle counts and full physical inventories as directed by management.
  • Conduct meetings with warehouse lead workers to ensure that all are informed of daily priorities.
  • Report on building security, delivery check-in procedures and documentation control.
  • Assist with evening scheduling for night warehouse operations (when applicable).
  • Attend monthly safety meetings and apprise staff of any operational change requirements.
  • Participate in the online training courses as dictated by management.
  • Maintain safe working environment according to company and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a warehouse/fulfillment supervisory or lead level role.
  • Process improvement or change management experience.
  • Verifiable shipping logistics and process experience with FedEx, UPS, USPS and LTL carriers.
  • Experience in training and development of hourly employees and temporary staff.
  • Experience in the development of operational procedures and processes.
  • Ability to review and assess problem situations and make sound remedy decisions quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Outlook and Word, and UPS Worldship
  • Experience with ERP inventory, fulfillment, shipping/receiving and RMA transactions.
  • Strong organization, multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Current forklift operator certification.
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and five years of experience or equivalent education and related experience.
  • Strong communication skills – written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, facilitation of strong working relationships.
  • Knowledge of other MS Office Suite and/or software applications related to job functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, analytical/problem solving, problem management, presentation development, presentation, and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Epicor, SAP or similar ERP system.
  • Working knowledge of safety management principles and OSHA warehouse regulations.
  • Working knowledge in a conveyor-based production environment.

Physical Demands

  • Physical Demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or calculator.
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.
  • May require frequent lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 70lbs

Acceptable Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma/GED and minimum of four years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school).
  • Associate plus three years of related work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus two years of related work experience
