FIA WEC Technical Manager

OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the FIA Head of Technical Matters for Sport cars/Touring Cars/FE and working in close cooperation with the Director for Sport Cars Categories, the FIA WEC Technical Manager will be responsible for:
▪ The FIA World Endurance Championship technical exploitation and development in collaboration with the ACO
▪ The technical control of the cars
▪ The homologation of the cars for competition
▪ The specific technical regulations
The FIA WEC Technical Manager’s responsibilities will be to contribute to the future of this championship by proposing ambitious and pragmatic technical solutions to fulfill the strategic goals and the sporting vision of the FIA.

MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The FIA WEC Technical Manager will be entrusted with the responsibilities set out below:
▪ Supporting the Head of Technical Matters for Sport cars/Touring Cars/FE, the Technical Director and the Director for Sport Cars Categories in:
    o The elaboration of future technical and sporting regulations
    o The preparation and follow-up of the Commissions
▪ Leading the technical discussions related to the Endurance category in cooperation with the ACO
▪ Preparing and conducting all technical regulation meetings related to the Endurance category
▪ Preparing and coordinating Technical Working Groups dedicated to current or future technical subjects or issues
▪ Coordinating all of the areas below:
    o BoP/Simulations/Performance
    o Electronics
    o Powertrain
▪ Centralising all internal and external technical communications related to the WEC, including:
    o Single contact point with the ACO Technical Department
    o Q&A from manufacturers and competitors
    o Championship promoter
▪ Managing TWGs (LMP1, LMH, LMP2, LMGTE) and related items of the SWG
▪ Writing technical regulations, amendments and proposals related to Endurance Commission and Endurance Committee decisions
▪ Managing the technical matters related to race events (preparation of technical documents, validation of BoP/EoT calculations, scrutineering, technical checks, liaison with other officials, technical reports, post-event reports, etc.)

In order to fulfill the above responsibilities, the FIA WEC Technical Manager will be required to attend all World Endurance Championship events, as Technical Delegate.

PROFILE:
▪ Mechanical Engineering Degree
▪ Significant experience in motor sport
▪ At least 15-20 years as an engineer or technical manager
▪ Good knowledge of Circuit categories
▪ High degree of sensitivity to cultural differences in the sport
▪ Good knowledge of sporting/technical regulations
▪ Ability to understand sporting subjects
▪ Strong team management skills
▪ Languages:
   o English - native or fluent (written and spoken)
   o French - good skills
▪ Team player
▪ Strong sense of customer service
▪ Excellent organisation and communication skills
▪ Ability to work in the strictest confidence with suppliers and teams
▪ Ability to handle numerous responsibilities simultaneously
▪ Availability and willingness to travel extensively
