Factory Systems Support Engineer

Purpose of the Role: 

To ensure that any cars prepared are in the best state of readiness to run at track events by running in depth technical analysis during car preparation and running. Technical support and feedback to all engineering disciplines during and after such events will be a vital part of this role, as will supporting the trackside Engineering Support team from the Woking-based factory during race weekends. There may also be some trackside attendance in the form of Testing and some occasional race events. You will also be solely responsible for the preparation and track testing of the 2021 Pirelli Test Car for Car Systems.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Initial preparation of marque specific software prior to the event (Silver Dtv)
  • The overall state of car readiness to run
  • Helping to drive the development of car reliability across the car systems functions
  • In depth monitoring, Analysis and reporting of key areas of car operation (Gearbox, Hydraulics, Electronic systems)
  • Setup and in-session handling of remote telemetry servers (ADS/RDS/vTAG)
  • Providing technical feedback on state of car (in and out of session) often from MTC
  • Communicating with Systems and Reliability Engineers to diagnose and resolve issues during track attendance
  • Providing in depth post session and post event reports to Engineering
  • Liaising with all Engineering disciplines when resolving issues pre, during and post event
  • Relaying key information in trackside and factory meetings where applicable
  • Assist Systems Engineers in sheet preparation and other duties where required
  • Assist trackside staff using the bench harness for fault investigation

Other duties may include:

  • Aid development of on and off car monitoring and preparation tools, including Data servers
  • Aid and mentor Systems technicians during Car Preparation including taking the lead in investigations into issues
  • Assume ‘ownership’ of one of the Race cars
  • MKS (Faults system) Follow up and Reporting
  • Technical feedback on issues from previous events in Engineering meetings both pre and post event at MTC
  • Support to configuration and testing activities, both at system and vehicle level (gearbox, fuel system, hydraulics, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience of working in a highly technical engineering function.
  • Competent in System Monitor and ATLAS
  • Competent Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Experience and Knowledge of a race or test event
