Facility Maintenance Technician

The Facility Maintenance Technician maintains a fully-functioning and clean facility by ensuring the grounds, buildings, and equipment are kept in a safe condition by following an established maintenance program. He or she is responsible for all maintenance procedures and repairs and performs a variety of skilled duties in building trades, such as plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical work, appliance repair, HVAC repair, and building and facility remodeling/repair.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, and experience in residential and/or commercial property maintenance that includes general maintenance, construction/remodeling, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. He or she must be a team player who can work in a fast-paced and challenging environment, must be physically able to perform the duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation (move heavy equipment/machinery frequently up to over 75 pounds, climb ladders, perform repetitive motions, walk/stand, bend/squat/stoop/crawl, etc. for long periods of time), and must have strong communication and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain facilities equipment and grounds to support the achievement of business goals and objectives.
  • Performs routine maintenance and cleaning for the grounds, facility, and equipment following all safety procedures and precautions
  • Maintains the facility systems, such as HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical, according to maintenance schedules
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Maintains and repairs walls, furniture, cabinets, windows, and doors/locks
  • Stocks maintenance supplies for work areas
  • Ensures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored
  • Performs general cleaning duties at assigned locations, including trash removal, dusting and cleaning assigned areas (restrooms, break rooms, offices, etc.), floor care (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, buffing, stripping and waxing, etc.), etc.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions, injuries, and accidents to the supervisor
  • Follows all established processes and policies
  • Follows all safety and security procedures
  • Completes any reports or logs in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Two years of progressive and relevant experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; some post high school education or training preferred
  • Experienced in a wide variety of trade skills (carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical) and the tools associated with them
  • Must be able to lift and/or move items 75 pounds and over
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with co-workers, vendors, and others
  • Able to work independently on projects and as a member of a team
