Equipment Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • To carry out all aspects of equipment design to ensure practical efficient equipment is available as required by the Factory & Race Team
  • To provide end to end support to the Race Team to ensure all equipment is operating to optimise the car running
  • To work proactively with Race Team, Technical, Design and related departments
  • To transfer requests and requirements into working concepts
  • To create and maintain various documents including job lists, testing records
  • To identify updates and modifications needed to adapt equipment to the new car designs and latest aero releases
  • To implement and deliver all new equipment and updates necessary to run the cars at test and race events
  • To be proactive and innovative in forming new ideas to assist race team, and technical team operations
  • To identify, plan and research longer term improvements to the general equipment
  • To maintain and overview and working knowledge of competitor equipment and new technologies being deployed
  • To take a proactive part in equipment testing and factory checks to ensure expected quality before first use
  • To communicate effectively with Race Team, provide forums for feedback and methods to agree solutions and deadlines
  • To attend and participate in meetings as required
  • To maintain and develop the knowledge of metallic, composite and ADM manufacture appropriate to the tasks at hand.

 

Experience & Qualifications:

 

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline
  • Previous experience in a similar role in an F1 environment
  • Excellent working knowledge CAD, NX, Catia V5 or upwards
  • Ability to demonstrate creative, flexible and innovative solutions to problems
  • Ability to transfer ideas into working concepts
  • Possess a strong focus and be able to accept challenges from colleagues
  • Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales
  • To have a flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team in a changing environment
  • Possess commitment and proven reliability
  • Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and versatile
  • Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, Health & Safety

 

Location & Hours

 

The role will be based at the Silverstone Factory.

Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm 1 hour for lunch Additional hours may be required as work dictates
