Engineering Industrial Placement - Systems Engineer 2020-2021

When shortlisting student placement applications for systems engineering we look for relevant subjects at University in subjects such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a similar related subject. Students will have a minimum of two years experience at University before the placement starts. It is also essential that you should return to your course for a minimum of one year following completion of the placement. We are unable to accept applications from students in their final year of their university studies.
When applying for student placement opportunities, all students are expected to submit a covering letter along with a Curriculum Vitae containing the following information:
Your current career aims and how you plan to achieve them
Subjects that you are currently taking and plan to take
Relevant leisure pursuits and activities
Why work experience with the Company would be beneficial to you
Demonstrate that you are the best person to be selected

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Being part of the team from day one. Working with highly skilled and experienced engineering professionals, and graduates with whom you can learn and develop. It is important to know that many of our industrial placements have been successful in obtaining graduate roles on completion of their degree.

In addition to the above, an interest in Software, Instrumentation, and Electronics would be very beneficial to support the project work we have available. We also encourage applicants to let us know of any engineering or related work experience they have undertaken. We celebrate the fact we are an engineering company: This is our passion.

Projects will include two or more of the following, depending upon the interests of the student:
1. Developing novel instrumentation techniques to allow us to understand more about the car on track.
2. Embedded software to support (1) above.
3. Laboratory testing of new sensor types.
4. Analyze and solve problems with existing sensors fitted to the car.
5. Visiting suppliers to assist in the management of external development projects.

Located in rural Grove in Oxfordshire, Williams is an exciting environment with driven, determined and ambitious people. Your work will count and have an impact on the car and the future success of Williams.

Shortlisted students will be invited to attend an assessment day. Assessment days are scheduled to take place at the end of October or early November at our site in Grove. We will obtain academic references as part of the selection process.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR TRAVEL AND ACCOMODATION:
It is expected that the student takes sole responsibility for making suitable travel and accommodation arrangements.

Note: Due to the short-term nature of both work experience placements and student placements we are unable to accept applications from candidates who do not have entitlement to live or work in the United Kingdom.
