Engineering Associate

The TECH Group (JTG) within Jacobs Technology provides design and build services for government and commercial clients worldwide. The market areas served are most notably test facilities and scientific facilities. JTG is looking for an Engineering Associate to support projects ranging from small studies to multi-million dollar turn-key supply. The successful candidate must be team-oriented, organized, able to communicate to all levels of the organization, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The responsibilities include:

  • Act as a single point of contact for files coming from and going to the client using a secure file exchange system.
  • Maintain logs of files coming in and going out from the project team.
  • Perform updates to project schedules, reports, and presentations.
  • Assist team members in locating documents and ensuring use of most current versions.
  • Prepare engineering forms for transmittal and interdisciplinary design reviews.
  • Ensure quality/compliance of project documents, plans, and deliverables are in alignment with requirements.
  • Communicate with management and clients regarding status as required.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and departments to ensure success.
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Functions:

  • Must maneuver in and around facility equipment while obtaining field measurements and performing equipment troubleshooting. <5%
  • May bring candidate in proximity of extreme temperature variations, rotating equipment, and high noise levels. <5%
  • Will like be in proximity of electrical and other hazards. Appropriate PPE must be worn and may include eye protection, hearing protection, and arc flash protection. <5%
  • Work will mainly be performed inside an office, lab environment, or indoors on a construction site. 95%
  • Field work my include outside work. 5%
  • Travel will be required to attend customer meetings and perform field work. 10%
  • Work with general office equipment (computers, fax, telephones, copiers, etc)90%
  • Occasional overtime required to meet demanding schedules. 15%
  • During field assignments, 2nd or 3rd shift may be necessary. 10%
  • Regular attendance is mandatory to meet schedules
  • Must be able to take and pass a pre-employment drug screen and pass a background check.

Associates degree or some college with experience in a technical field. 1-5 years experience in a technical field that includes documenting work. Candidate must be experienced in general computer skills such as file management. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs is required.

The successful candidate will have an interest and background in engineering environments such as work in a project design engineering firm, test laboratory, fabrication facility, or other technical environment. Ideally, this person will have some college with study in a technical field or equivalent technical experience.

This position requires the ability to manage electronic files, accurately compile, log, and track technical documents, update project schedules, develop reports, and work with team members to ensure that files and documents are handled and controlled in accordance with defined policies and procedures.
