Engine Development Engineer

And in order to strenghthen the team, we are looking for a talented and highly motivated Engine Development Engineer to join us at the Ferrari team headquarters in Maranello, Italy.

In this role you will play a major role in the design, implementation, testing and deployment of innovative solutions in engine mechanical development. 

More specifically, you will develop Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) ancillary systems, including oil, MGUK gear-train, engine cooling for highest functionality and efficiency, develop friction reduction methods. You will guide lubricant supplier to ensure optima, performance tailored to the ICE, including development and homologation planning as well as managing the logistics of the development progam. 

For test rigs, you will define the efficient operating range of anciliaries, evaluate frictional characteristics by component and provide detailed feedback on reliability of critical components. 

You will have the chance to guide suppliers in development, homologation, and logistics related to lubricants consistent with the engine reliability plans and supplier’s capability.

Overall you will define test requests and extermimental specifications, manage testing on specific benches (component monitoring rig, cam rig, oil tank rodeo) and above all will work across the key communication channels with Engine Design, Engine Testing, Chassis Design (amongst others) and ensure to prepare and present in our technical and planning meetings.

Desired Skills and Experience

In order to succeed in this challenging engineering role, we are looking ideally for a graduate with First-class degree in Mechanical Engineering (or any international equivalent Master’s Degree in engineering) with at least 5 up to 10 years experience automotive engine management. Based on your dedicated experience you have shown the ability to develop and implement solutions, manage people, overcome obstacles and lead change together with the team. Specifically, you will have excellent knowledge of MATLAB-Simulink software.

In Ferrari we can expect you to be capable of thinking analytical, client-oriented and highly structured, being clearly communicative in order to proactively support end-users. Fluency in English and ideally a solid of level of Italian are recommend for your best local integration.
