Electrical Systems Apprentice

Role Summary

To develop competence and gain time served experience within the EEI function of Lotus Sports Car Engineering through supporting technicians in electrical workshops and engineers for current products.

We offer the opportunity to work in the vibrant Lotus Engineering centre alongside some of the industry’s best technicians and engineers. You will get the opportunity to support electrical prototype builds and engineered solutions on iconic products. You will be provided with a full training programme and will be assigned a personal mentor who will support you throughout.

Roles and Responsibilities

At Lotus Cars we offer an Electrical Engineering apprenticeship of up to 36 months which will tap into your passion and determination to learn and develop while giving you opportunity to support the development of our iconic brand and world renowned story.

Working with some of the best in the business, you will be involved in hands on scopes supporting innovative engineering solutions that can go from concept to production.

You will take a role in our Electrical Workshop Team, developing your electrical principles to help overcome challenges across the department on a variety of projects. As your experience and skills develop, increasing exposure to electrical systems design, complex wiring systems, circuit analysis and fault finding.

As a team we pride ourselves on challenging apprentices by providing interaction with the other function groups within our High-Performance Sports Car Engineering departments.

Qualifications and Experience 

 Essentials:

  • A strong academic background in relevant GCSE, or equivalent qualifications, particularly Maths or Sciences
  • Appreciation of electrical wiring systems and engineering workshop processes.
  • The courage to challenge and desire to be challenged, to expand your technical knowledge and skills
  • Understanding electrical principles
  • Self-motivation, adaptability and creativity
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable:

  • Previous study in Electrical / Engineering / Automotive or related subject
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering tools and measurement equipment
  • Understanding of electrical drawings and desire to develop skills required to generate them
  • Basic CAD skills with an appreciation of electrical design process.
