Electrical Maintenance Technician

ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

DYNAMET - Clearwater, Florida location

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for being the subject matter expert for all aspects related to the electrical components throughout the manufacturing plant. Supports the manufacturing and maintenance group objectives as domain experts for electrical and automation areas. This role provides oversight to internal and external resources for the definition, development, and delivery of programs incorporating electrical and automation components integrated into the everyday operations. This includes, but not limited to, troubleshooting and repairs; cooperating with and supporting operations; aggressively pursuing process improvements; assisting with documentation and training for all equipment. Must be able to function safely in a fast-paced environment and be responsible to maintain equipment in a craftsman-like manner. Ability to work in conjunction with other maintenance crafts, engineering and production personnel. The plant currently is a 3-shift operation Monday through Sunday with some overtime and weekend work required.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Perform advanced technical troubleshooting/problem solving skills in the area of process automation and electrical power distribution.
  • Receives, prioritizes, coordinates, and performs and completes maintenance, repair and installation work or requests within allowable time frames.
  • Responsible for Diagnosing problems affecting operation of process equipment, machinery, tools and facility equipment. May be designated as a "primary" contact for troubleshooting specialized equipment such as robotics, material forming, hydraulic, pneumatic, or other equipment. Develops sequenced course of action for repair
  • Participates/leads in preventative maintenance and total preventative maintenance activities as directed.
  • Participates/leads with other work teams to identify, define, and establish process stability and improvement.
  • Ability to have thorough knowledge of equipment, using blue prints, equipment manuals, specifications, standard operating procedures, and be able to use proper judgement when taking corrective actions during equipment malfunction.
  • Demonstrate continuous progress with respect to increasing job knowledge and proficiency in technical understanding/problem solving.
  • Ability to navigate current systems for the purpose of training and performance management.

  • Troubleshoots job at the machine by observing machine operation and interacting with operations leadership and employees.
  • Plans repair procedure by analyzing site conditions, blueprints, sketches, and other available information.
  • Ability to use mobile equipment as needed.
  • Ability to perform electrical and electronic work along with minor mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and crane/rigging needs.
  • In-depth experience with PLC's, PC's, HMI's, AC and DC Adjustable Speed Drives, power distribution, hydraulic control systems and associated interface equipment including associated test equipment (i.e. chart recorders, data acquisition, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Assists in leading and performing preventative maintenance on equipment by inspecting for defects such as misalignments, wear, improper lubrication, etc.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Ability to use maintenance systems for researching and ordering parts.
  • Provide technical electrical expertise to engineering in the design, repair, or improvement of equipment.
  • Ability to lead and teach others and to assume a leadership role on assignments as required.
  • Supports launch activities as needed.
  • Operates in a safe manner and observes safety rules and guidelines.
  • Must be able to meet safety requirements including ANSI fall protection expectations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate from an accepted Technical Training Institution in an electrical / electronic associates' degree program is preferred.
  • 5 years of industrial electrical/electronic maintenance and troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Experience with PLC's, PC's, HMI's, AC and DC Adjustable Speed Drives, power distribution, hydraulic control systems and associated interface equipment including associated test equipment (i.e. chart recorders, data acquisition, oscilloscopes, etc.) is also required.
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, teaching skills and the ability to prepare reports and conduct presentations.
  • Knowledge and experience with power systems maintenance
  • Extensive AC/DC motors and drives experience.
  • Requires the ability to pass a pre-employment test which includes a background check, physical including drug and alcohol screen.
