Electrical Harness Technician

The position

We are looking to recruit a capable and proficient Electrical Harness Technician to join our Electronics Department. 

Role Purpose

This varied role will include but not be limited to -
Build LV/HV assemblies and enclosures.
Perform end of line harness test procedures such as continuity, isolation and resistive tests.
Build complex and challenging electrical wiring harnesses to exacting standards.
Provide on/off site support as required for Harness diagnostics and fault-finding.
Interface with engineering team as required to support harness and electrical system design development on prototypes.
You will be expected to be able to build one offs and also be able to cope with higher volume production runs.
Maintain workshop records and drawings.
Proficient in use of various specialist hand tools e.g., heat guns, solder, crimp tools and electrical testers.

Core skills

Strong working knowledge of Raychem system 25 standards and processes
Strong experience of building electrical wiring harnesses (preferably within a Motorsport, Aerospace, Defence or similar sector).
Utilise motorsport wiring harness techniques using industry standard sealed System 25 and Contra-helical lays.

*In compliance with national Secure Freight Consigner conditions, five years’ continuous employment, education and/or training must be evidenced and any gaps exceeding 28 days accounted for.  A criminal record check will also be carried out.  This will be explained in more detail during interview.

About you

You are likely to be hold a relevant qualification (Apprenticeship, ONC, HNC or HND) in an engineering or manufacturing discipline
A Workshop Technician / Engineering Technician / Wiring Harness Technician with good “hands on” engineering build experience within an engineering environment.
A sound understanding and ability to manufacture complex wiring harnesses from manufacturing schematics.
Knowledge of common connector systems, wire types and sleeving methods.
A flexible practical mindset and can-do attitude along with the ability to follow written / verbal instructions with attention to detail.
