Design and Release Engineer for the Ancillary Translator module (ATM), which is an electronic control unit control unit within electrical architecture. The ATM provides signal and message translation between two separate network communication protocols, Controller Area Network (CAN) J1939 and J2284 High Speed Controller Area Network (HSCAN) within the vehicle. The ATM is an electronic control module that has both powertrain and body feature inputs and outputs. The Design & Release Engineer is responsible for all product deliverables, necessary to deliver a robust solution, to their assigned vehicle program. These responsibilities include the following:

Be an interactive and key member of the body electronics control module team, working closely with other program applications engineers, software engineers, system engineers, program management, OEM and Supplier manufacturing, purchasing, finance, management and supplier teams to support the product and develop robust solutions.  A strong team player with cross functional and global team communication skills.  Shows respect and willingness to learn.   • Lead the delivery of all engineering requirements, for the ATM, per each development milestone, as defined by the product development process.
  • Support all vehicle prototype builds, product launch and service issues.
  • Support Electrical Breadboard part procurement, electrical validation and troubleshooting.
  • Lead Supplier Sourcing process.
  • Develop CPA, eSOW, 1EC, PCP and any other sourcing documents needed to bring a Supplier on board for a project.
  • Ability and knowledge to review Supplier quotes, sourcing document responses and questions and help resolve to closure with OEM teams.
  • Manage product financial status; review proposals to increase/decrease cost and seek approval for those changes via approval process with OEM management team.
  • Lead Design Change Request (DCR) process with Suppliers and submit financial requests. Track progress of DCR with Supplier and OEM teams to closure.
  • Ability to provide engineering cost estimates to Program for proposed DCRs before Supplier quotes actual work.
  • Work with the Vehicle Electrical Program Management Team (PMT) and Program Vehicle Team (PVT) daily to launch the ATM during the prototype and production launch phase.
  • Support the development of robust foundation documents including but not limited to: DFMEA, specifications, D/PVP&R, worse case circuit analysis (WCCA), device transmittals, etc.
  • Lead and implement the Software requirements in the ATM Software Functional Specification.
  • Manage ATM Software issues with both Supplier and OEM teams and track to closure offering technical guidance on issue resolution.
  • Working expert knowledge of J1939 and J2284 CAN protocols and can develop Software translation specification with both of them.
  • Work with Feature Owners to design and implement new Software features within the ATM on different vehicle architectures.
  • Manage ATM SW Functional Specification Release.
  • Lead, implement and own the Hardware requirements specification for the ATM.
  • Manage ATM HW specification design and compatibility across several vehicle architectures.
  • Work with HW Technical Expert to implement new Hardware requests from Program teams.
  • Work with Program Team to design and implement new Hardware features within the ATM on different vehicle architectures.
  • Release Hardware Specification and maintain ownership of document.
  • Lead ATM validation efforts within both OEM and Supplier teams to meet OEM timing deliverables.
  • Ability to use CANalyzer and analyze vehicle and identify/troubleshoot compatibility, system, software and/or hardware issues and to
  • Experience with breadboard, vehicle, prototype and bench level testing.
  • Familiar with Hardware in the Loop (HIL), Software in the Loop (SIL), Model in the Loop (MIL) and automated validation strategies (e.g.  LabView, Vector, National Instruments, ect.)
  • Review all Supplier Validation Plans, Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) and Test scripts to ensure they will properly validate the ATM per OEM specifications and meet milestone timing deliverables.
  • Perform Bench level Software Validation independently to validate ATM functionality utilizing DET tool, CANalyzer and Multimeter / Oscilloscope.
  • Ability to write independent validation test scripts per the SW and HW specifications.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, consisting of vehicle system engineers, other commodity owners, network communications engineers, manufacturing engineers (vehicle operations engineers), and commodity suppliers to drive timely resolution of program specific engineering issues.
  • Leverage failure detection strategies such as fault tree analysis, fishbone diagrams is/is not, etc.
  • Lead trouble shooting and problem resolution process using vehicle CAN network tools. Collect/analyze CAN data, review system schematics and vehicle EDS as required per Timing Milestones.
  • Lead the development of design solutions, as required, to revise or add features to the ATM as they impact ATM hardware, software, architecture, system compatibility and customer requests.
  • Lead ATM configuration development and release effort (method 2 and method 3)
  • Lead a cross functional team of feature owners and system engineers to assist in the definition of the required behavioral requirements necessary to meet the program’s needs.
  • Ensure alignment with Product Definition Letters and compliance to regional regulatory requirements.
  • Lead resolution of warranty and quality issues.
  • Ability to write an 8D and manage Supplier resolution per Milestone Timing.
  • Familiar with Electronic Control module packaging, bracket design and digital buck position experience.
  • Part number management and release experience for the ATM, its specifications and configurations ( component parts, M2 and M3 files, Functional Spec, Hardware Spec and Diagnostic Spec).
  • Strong J2284 and J1939 Diagnostic troubleshooting, validation and Part II specification review/development.
