Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Powertrain Control Testing (PCT) department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Drivetrain Evaluation Technician.

The primary responsibility of this role is to perform drivetrain development testing on/off-site including:  Drivetrain calibration confirmation, and competitor benchmarking.

Reporting to the Manager, the person in this role will support the Powertrain Control Testing (PCT) department’s objective to create world class powertrains in North America.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Complete instrument test vehicles with precision measuring equipment including transmission removal

  • Execute vehicle on-road test, chassis dyno, and at test tracks

  • Collect data using one of many data acquisition systems, including Toyota proprietary equipment

  • Test management: planning, scheduling, and reporting of results

  • Travel 20% of time

  • Up to 20% Overtime based on business needs

 

Qualifications

What you bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Automotive Associates Degree (or higher), automotive trade school certificate, or equivalent work experience (4 years dealership)

  • Experience as an Automotive technician with strong understanding of automatic, manual and CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) transmissions

  • Strong vehicle electrical systems knowledge with working level experience

  • Great attention to detail and ability to work independently without direct supervision 

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

  • Good working knowledge in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Strong safety mindset. Adhere to strict safety policies

  • This position requires driving.  A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position  

 Added bonus if you have:

  • Automotive R&D (Research and Development) experience

  • Experience with data acquisition

  • MIG/TIG welding / fabrication experience

  • Japanese Language skills
