DMU Transformation Engineer

Purpose of the Role: 

To lead the transformation of our CAD systems in order to generate a full digital mock-up of our race car, establishing best practice and process within the design team to achieve this and be in a position where we are able to fully replace the physical mock up.

Principal Accountabilities: 

  • Defining and agreeing with Head of Design the roadmap plan from physical to digital mock up and key deliverables
  • Leading the staged implementation of the transformation through pilot phase
  • Able to lead by example and creation of the key parts of the DMU environment
  • Defining and communicating best practice to the design team through briefings and documentation
  • Providing engineering process support for the design office methods required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of a full DMU process and the necessary systems requirements
  • Proficient use of CAD design tools and database (previous use of Catia V5 / 3DExp an advantage)
  • Understanding of race car design and systems and their impact on reliability and safety in operation
  • Familiar with PC and software tools used in the design environment
  • Ability to write software tools to create macros an advantage
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
