DMU Designer

Purpose of the Role:

With the change of CAD system for the MCL34 we will have the facility to use more advanced DMU tool compared to what we have been using until today.

This presents an opportunity for technicians with extensive experience on modern F1 cars to get involved with future car design.

Principal responsibilities: 

  • Liaise with the designers to maintain the BOM (Bill of Material) structure organised. e.g. parts positioned correctly in space, all reference geometry to be out of the Engineering BOM, …
  • Perform clash detection across the car during the new car design phase and new design projects / upgrades and report to designers to take actions
  • Review the car design against the following criteria:
    • Order of assembly to make sure the car can be serviced in a practical manner
    • Practical access to bleed points, quick adjusters and fasteners etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

  • Good knowledge of racing car components, and systems.
  • Knowledge of composite and metallic materials and manufacturing techniques.
  • Basic PC skills – word / excel.
  • Demonstrable experience in F1 or similar environment.
  • CAD training will be provided and more specifically the configuration/filter and clash detection tools.
