Director, Venue Experience & Execution

Homestead-Miami Speedway celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2020, as it continues to generate more than $301 million of annual economic benefit.  The Speedway was home to NASCAR’s championship races from 2002 through 2019 – the longest such stretch in pro sports. It is regarded as the most competitive 1.5-mile track on the circuit, and also boasts a 2.21-mile road course, which is used for many racing disciplines throughout the year. In addition to its NASCAR race weekend, the track plays host to events of all types more than 300 days out of the year.  During a visit to the track, fans are easily reminded of everything that Miami is known for such as an infield beach party, a slice of the area’s Cuban culture, three fresh spring water lakes, and much more!

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join the Homestead-Miami Speedway team in the position of Director, Venue Experience & Execution based in Homestead, Florida.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Build strong working relationships and encourage collaboration with regional departments.
  • Contact potential clients to establish rapport and arrange meetings.
  • Research organizations and individuals to discover and explore new opportunities, find and develop new markets and improve sales.
  • Increase the value of current customers while attracting new ones.
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications and announcements.
  • Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements and financials.
  • Evaluate options and resolve internal priorities.
  • Examine risks and potentials for business opportunities.
  • Estimate partners’ needs and goals.
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts, and integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Oversee hospitality and guest services.
  • Be the champion for the guest experience, leading or integrating all guest-facing elements and interactions.
  • Study existing practices and practices of other venues that align with the vision, mission, strategy, values and culture of NASCAR.
  • Support and provide input to ensure close alignment with the ticket operations team.
  • Serve as liaison with the food and beverage partner.
  • Develop and lead a team of front-of-house individuals who welcome and interact with guests in a variety of roles during events.
  • Oversee all aspects of security.
  • Protect the company’s value by keeping information confidential.

Qualifications:

  • College degree, preferably in related business field, i.e. Communication, Marketing, Sports Management
  • Minimum four years marketing experience preferred; sports marketing or event management experience a significant plus
  • Strong ability to think strategically, creatively and quickly
  • Detail-oriented and organized with outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to work through on-site event logistics and think operationally is a must
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver multiple projects at once within strict deadlines
  • Must be able to work extended hours and event weekends
  • A passion for sales and customer development
  • Relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact comfortably and effectively with internal and external clients at all levels of the applicable organizations
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic, results oriented and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and time management skills
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required
  • Must be a team player, self-starter, persistent and professional
  • Valid driver’s license
